INTEGRATED MOVEMENT THERAPY (IMT)
IMT’s holistic approach is based on three overarching philosophies:
The client is already perfect and whole
The client and therapist are both unlimited in their potential for healing
No part of the body/mind/spirit complex, and no part of the brain, works alone.
And six core principles:
Structure and continuity
Physical stimulation
Language stimulation
Social interaction
Self-calming
Direct self-esteem building
What does an IMT session look like?
IMT sessions are highly individualized to meet the needs of each client. Usually clients participate in IMT sessions once a week or every other week. The length of the sessions are 60 minutes, with the exception of the initial session which is 75 minutes. A typical IMT session includes checking in/talking, grounding & centering, movement, creative and exploratory activities, and always concludes with rest.
IMT is based on structure and continuity, as well as partnership between the client and therapist, so it is rarely “completed” in one session. Beginning with an intro pass that includes three sessions is recommended.
*I offer both online and in person sessions. In person sessions are available only in the Portland Metro area. Additional charges may be added for travel time and expense.
